The History of  Legalized Abortion Begins With Legalized Contraceptives – PART ONE

“How Abortion Became Legal”

From Choices in Matters of Life & Death by Judie Brown with Paul Brown

If we study the Supreme Court’s decisions and try to see when the Court began arbitrarily granting the right to kill, we have to go back to 1965 when the last of the so-called Comstock Laws or the old birth control laws in America was overturned.  [Margaret Sanger played a major role in the legalization of birth control.]

  • In Griswold v. Connecticut [1965], the Court created the “right to privacy.”
  • There never has been in the U.S. Constitution a right to privacy, but in 1965, to legalize all forms of birth control for married couples, the Court ruled that couples have a “right to privacy” and therefore the state has no compelling interest even in alerting them to the medical side effects of birth control.
  • This contrived “right to privacy” laid the groundwork for further anti-life actions by the Court. [Emphasis added.]

Justice Stewart agreed that the “right to privacy” was contrived and could not be found in the Constitution.  In his dissenting opinion in Griswold, he wrote:

“In the course of its opinion the Court refers to no less than six amendments to the Constitution:  The First, the Third, the Fourth, the Fifth, the Ninth and the 14th.  But the Court does not say which of these amendments, if any, it thinks is infringed by this Connecticut [birth control] law.

“What provision of the Constitution, then, does makes this [birth control] law invalid? The Courts says it is the right of privacy ‘created by several fundamental constitutional guarantees.’ With all deference, I can find no such general right of privacy in the Bill of Rights, in any other part of the Constitution, or in any case ever before decided by this Court.

“At the oral argument in this case we were told that the Connecticut [birth control] law does not ‘conform to current community standards.’  But it is not the function of this Court to decide cases on the basis of community standards. We are here to decide cases ‘agreeable to the Constitution and laws of the United States.’”—-Justice Stewart’s dissenting opinion in Griswold.

In 1972, in Eisenstadt v. Baird, the Supreme Court again referred to the “right to privacy,” ruling that contraceptives may be given to unmarried individuals, concluding that the “equal protection under the law” guaranteed by the Constitution confers the rights of married persons on the unmarried as well.

What the Court did in 1973 [Roe v. Wade] was simply to carry forward that right to privacy created in 1965 and legalize the killing of innocent preborn children.

Pro-Life Prayer Vigil at Planned Parenthood on MLK

Prayer Vigil at Planned Parenthood on MLK

(Portland, Ore)  March 19, 2010 (Pro-Life Action of Oregon) Over 60 pro-lifers gathered on Friday outside Planned Parenthood on MLK, Jr. Blvd. for a peaceful prayer vigil.  Organizer Tamra Johnson, Regional Coordinator of Silent No More Awareness Campaign, got the word out.  Tamra is also the coordinator for 40 Days for Life/Portland this year.  Among the churches represented were  Holy Rosary Church, St. Juan Diego, St. Mary Magdalene, St. Agatha, Our Lady of the Lake, St. Pius X, Christ The King, and Rock Point Church.

Tamra and Fr. John Kerns

Tamra, Fr. John Kerns

We were blessed to have Fr. John Kerns, pastor at St. Juan Diego Church, lead us in The Rosary, The Divine Mercy Chaplet, and songs!  Thank you father!!  It was a bittersweet afternoon.  Fellowship outside a place of death is usually like that.

Prayer Vigil at PP on MLK

Friday was an unseasonably warm and calm day in Portland, weather-wise.  However, the new building whips up bitter cold winds.  The building also casts a dark shadow on the boulevard in the afternoons.  It’s a very cold, uninviting environment altogether.

Inside the corner of this building at street level, preparations are being made for something that Planned Parenthood is being secretive about.  Pro-Life Action of Oregon is almost certain it will be a gathering place for sex “education” outreach to teens walking by.  You will see taped onto the windows the very same cutesy lips and flowers associated with Planned Parenthood’s depraved “Take Care Down There:  The Ins and Outs Of The Ins and Outs” sex training site for teens.  (Warning:   vulgar material.)   Outside the door are three-foot-tall bike racks in the shape of the male/female symbols.

We will keep you posted on the developments inside the corner.

Tri-Met has put a new bus stop on the corner.

Many, many cars drive by this place all day long.  As we prayed, drivers gave their thumbs up, honked in approval, waved:  this lifts our spirits.

But we need more people, especially black people, to join us.  One day a black man stopped his car and told us that he would join “if you take down those pictures” of mutilated aborted babies.  Yes, this is a problem we can discuss and deal with in the near future.

Planned Parenthood Increases Use of Dangerous Abortion Drug

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) – A national survey of Planned Parenthood abortion centers finds a higher number are giving women the dangerous RU 486 abortion drug that has killed at least 13 women worldwide and injured more than 1,100 in the U.S. alone. The increase comes as one woman received attention for live blogging her abortion.

Yesterday, the American Life League released its annual survey of Planned Parenthood locations.

The pro-life group tells LifeNews.com that the number of locations dispensing the dangeorus abortion drug has risen 130 percent since its last national survey, even though the overall number of Planned Parenthood centers is on the decline.

Rita Diller, national director of ALL’s Stop Planned Parenthood project, commented on the results.

“While we are thrilled to see the number of Planned Parenthood affiliates and facilities declining, we are extremely dismayed to see Planned Parenthood continuing to build its abortion business by increasing the number of facilities administering deadly abortion pills,” she told LifeNews.com.

The drug has killed eight women alone in the United States because Planned Parenthood previously told women using it to use the drug vaginally instead of orally. That causes the introduction of bacteria that resulted in lethal infections causing their deaths.

Our Media Is The Streets – Priests for Life on Sidewalk Protesting

“Do not be afraid to go out on the streets and into public places like the first apostles, who preached Christ and the good news of salvation in the squares of cities, towns and villages.  This is no time to be ashamed of the Gospel (cf.  Rom. 1:16).  It is the time to preach it from the rooftops (cf.  Mt. 10:27).  Do not be afraid to break out of comfortable and routine modes of living in order to take up the challenge of making Christ known in the modern “metropolis.”  It is you who must “go out into the byroads” (Mt. 22:9) and invite everyone you meet to the banquet which God has prepared for his people.  The Gospel must not be kept hidden because of fear or indifference.  It was never meant to be hidden away in private.  It has to be put on a stand so that people may see its light and give praise to our heavenly Father (cf.  Mt. 5:15-16).”—-Pope John Paul II, World Youth Day homily, August 15, 1993, Denver

Pro-Abortion Sister Donna Quinn

Sister Quinn’s Pro-Abortion Activities earn her the Millstone Award — Human Life Intl.

Nobody can possibly know how many women religious have left their orders, or how many children have lost their Faith, because of Sister Donna Quinn.  Certainly, she deserves many thousands of Millstone Awards.

Unfortunately, we can only award her one.

Many feel anger at Sister Quinn because of the terrible damage she has done to the Church, but we must remember that she desperately needs our prayers.  May she come to realize the errors of her ways and become a great force for good.

Abortion Pills Questions and Answers

Pro-Life Action of Oregon is urging all activists in the Pro-Life Movement to become familiar with the abortion drugs Mifepristone, a.k.a., RU-486, and Mifeprostol.  This is important for sidewalk counseling.

The number of chemical abortions is on the rise and will continue to rise.

Did you know that . . .

  • more than one drug is used in the chemical abortion protocol?
  • providers of these drugs have been known to MISUSE or ABUSE these drugs  by advising patients to insert the pills vaginally?
  • these drugs are manufactured in CHINA?
  • Planned Parenthood claims that “only 2 out of 100 patients require a surgical abortion” due to drug failure?

Update, March 26, 2010

  • The FDA reports that … about 5 to 8 out of 100 women taking Mifeprex will need a surgical procedure to end the pregnancy or to stop too much bleeding.”  Emphasis added.

This an incomplete abortion.  But as usual will not use the word “baby.”

An “incomplete abortion” as defined by Planned Parenthood’s Glossary, means that some of the “pregnancy tissue”the growing baby — remains in the uterus.

SEPSIS:  THE CAUSE FOR ALARM

Sepsis has caused the death of pregnant girls and women using these drugs.  The cause?  Deadly “Super Bugs,” bacteria that cannot be treated with known antibiotics.  We’ve provided links (below) to ongoing reports by the Food and Drug Administration  (FDA).

Despite these warnings, Planned Parenthood is stepping up its marketing of this alternative to “surgical abortion.”  The new PP on NE Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. only offers chemical abortionsfor now.

CEO David Greenberg has gone on record to state that their new location would offer a “state-of-the-art Surgicenter designed to increase access to abortion care in anticipation of continuing political challenges.”—-2005-06  Annual Report, Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette.

ABORTION DRUGS GLOSSARY

Pro-Life Action of Oregon urges all activists in the Pro-Life Movement to become familiar with the terminology of chemical abortions. Here are the various terms used for it:

  • Medical Abortion
  • Chemical Abortion
  • The Abortion Pill
  • RU-486 (this term is being phased out)
  • Mifeprex (brand name)
  • Mifepristone (generic)
  • Misoprostol – taken after Mifepristone
  • Incomplete Chemical Abortion – the growing baby remains in the uterus of the mother and requires a surgical abortion

MEDICAL ABORTION REGIMEN – According to the FDA, the approved Mifeprex regimen for a medical abortion through 49 day’s pregnancy is:

  • Day One:  Mifeprex Administration: 3 tablets of 200 mg of Mifeprex orally at once
  • Day Three:  Misoprostol Administration: 2 tablets of 200 mcg of misoprostol orally at once
  • Day 14:   Post-Treatment:   The patient must return to confirm that a complete termination has occurred.  If not, surgical termination is recommended to manage medical abortion treatment failures.

The FDA continues to track adverse events, i.e., deaths, caused by the drugs.

‘Girl Scouts Distribute Planned Parenthood Sex Guide at U.N. Meeting’

By Terrence McKeegan, J.D.

(NEW YORK – C-FAM)  The World Association of Girl Scouts and Girl Guides hosted a no-adults-welcome panel at the United Nations this week where Planned Parenthood was allowed to distribute a  brochure entitled “Healthy, Happy and Hot.” The event was part of the annual United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) which concludes this week.

The brochure, aimed at young people living with HIV, contains explicit and graphic details on sex, as well as the promotion of casual sex in many forms.  The brochure claims, “Many people think sex is just about vaginal or anal intercourse… But, there are lots of different ways to have sex and lots of different types of sex. There is no right or wrong way to have sex. Just have fun, explore and be yourself!”

Also at CSW last week, the heads of various powerful UN agencies . . . released a . . . the “UN Adolescent Girls Task Force,” which calls for their agencies to promote and support programs “that empower … adolescent girls, particularly those aged 10 to 14 years”  . . . ensuring access to “life skills-based sexuality education, HIV prevention, and sexual and reproductive health.”

Pro-Life Action of Oregon has looked into how girls can earn the Girls Scouts U.S.A. Patch called “Our Rights and Responsibilities” Patch .  On that page under “The Right To Be Me,” is a link  to U.K. Children’s Rights Web site.   {Note that the URL  www.therightssite.org.uk on the Girl Scouts page sends visitors to the U.K. “Tag” site – with the URL http://www.tagd.org.uk .}

A Tag is a UNICEF campaign for Girl Scouts to become involved in.

One such Tag is called the UNITE AGAINST AIDS Campaign.  Girl Scouts are instructed to “organize a Red Ribbon party” to raise awareness about HIV.

Sample Activities for Girl Scouts Red Ribbon Party:

First you have to decide on a name for your event:  it could simply be ‘Red Party’ or if your event involves lots of music it could be ‘Singing for Sex’

You could do a cake sale – check out our condom cake recipe! Make sure when selling that your punters know the condoms are not edible - this could be messy! ‘A fun way to bring sexual protection to the masses at the same time as raising funds.’  Make a slit in the [cup] cakes and put in the condom.

Condom Cupcakes for Girl Scouts

Red Ribbon Education is a UNICEF project.  Their “Exploring HIV, AIDS, and Sexual Health:  A Peer Education and Action Pack” - in pdf.

The Red Ribbon education pack can be used by peer educators, youth workers and teachers.  It is designed to get your group thinking about and taking action on HIV and sexual health. The activities are designed for use with young people aged around 14-18 years but you can adapt them to make them relevant to your particular group.

This is 33 pages of lessons plans which include role playing.  Role playing in group settings began in the context of therapy groups.  Dr. Carl Rogers popularized “therapy for normals” in the 1960′s and schools haven’t been the same since.  Now, children are encouraged to role play in sex “training” classes and it’s very dangerous!  It leads innocent children right into the arms of child predators.
