It’s a 6+ month process to donate and requires dozens of tests and procedures. No one would “sell” their kidney for $1,000. That’s absurd. Most people also have to take 6-8 weeks on unpaid leave from work. $1,000 credit helps offset those lost wages.

Despite Dr. Byrne’s suggestion that all tax credits would violate the UAGA, he’s wrong. The UAGA specifically permits a donor to be reimbursed his lost wages.

Nothing is more pro-life than giving the gift of life. Reducing the cost-barriers to organ donation should be something we fight FOR, not fight AGAINST.

Women have an important place in the Catholic Church.
Who started Jesus’ miracles?
Who was the first to see the Resurrected Jesus?

Men have an important place in the Catholic Church.
The 11, then 12 apostles were our first priests.

Our good Pope Benedict just reconfirmed this.

Our Portland leadership needs to openly validate this; and stop the wayward people in our flock. The job of our Catholic leaders is to shepherd their flock to heaven. How will we get there if confusion is allowed to fester? There will be grief to pay in souls lost.

I am not in in favor of ordination of women. Both Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict VI have said that it is not possible for women to ever be ordained. If you are going to be Catholic, then you have to follow the directives of the Chair of Peter.
